Lia Ditton Aqaunaut

“If astronauts go to the moon and you’re going across an ocean… doesn’t that make you an aquanaut?”- curious 6 year old

ABOUT LIA

A licensed captain, I have sailed the equivalent of 8 laps of the globe; crossed an ocean 3 times alone and am the 53rd woman to row the Atlantic.

Now 38, I have spent 73 days in a row naked, eaten over 2 years worth of freeze-dried food and sailed a boat over 40mph!

In March 2020, I will depart from Choshi, Japan on a mission to row 5,500 nautical miles, solo and unsupported, across the Pacific Ocean to the Golden Gate Bridge of San Francisco.

To date 2 people have rowed this distance.

Both were men and both men were towed the last 20 and 50 miles respectively.

If I succeed, I will be the 1st woman and 1st person to row land-to-land.

Expedition: 2020
